Weasels Larry and Charlie headed North Thursday morning, to prepare camp for Gregg, Ryan and Remy who would be arriving Friday. I was pleased to learn that the grass had barely grown and I didn't have to mow, which was especially nice, since we arrived in a downpour of rain Two mice in the traps were quickly dispensed with, and we unpacked the truck. Unfortunately it continued to rain thru Friday morning so bow hunting was put on hold. We went in to Cumberland Fri. morning and picked up 4 sheets of 3/4 inch treated plywood. We emptied the steel shed and laid the new flooring. Really pleased with the results, nice firm floor now. Friday night we went to County Line for supper, Gregg had arrived, but Ryan wasn't arriving til about 11:00. Supper was great and we headed back to Camp to prepare for Sat. hunt. The hunt itself was pretty uneventful, but Gregg did find a bear in his tree stand when he went out before dawn. Suppose he's going to want a double ladder stand now. We hunted Sat. morning and afternoon, and Sun. morning. Saw several does and fawns and a couple of bucks, but no good shots. I tried out my new stand in the clearcut Sat. nite, but not much doing. We'll have to work hard during the rut hunt . Seem to be plenty of deer around. Til then, remember lifes good and especially good if you're a weasel.
